Director Genevieve McCarty and I wrapped up the music mixes of the score for her film Every Other Week today. I had the pleasure of composing much of the score with her in the room directing me, something that could easily become a disaster for a composer but worked beautifully with her. It was a truly collaborative effort, and that is the thing I love the most about scoring films.
Screening of Long After Midnight
Today was a screening of Robert Rollins’ recently completed film “Long After Midnight”, for which I was the film composer. It was received well, and will ultimately be part of a larger package called Dream Country.
Funk Parlor screening at Breckenridge Festival of Film
Gwen O’Donnell’s film The Funk Parlor played today at the Breckenridge Festival of Film in Colorado. I composed additional music for the film, but I didn’t make it up to Colorado for the festival.
Voiceover recording sessions for Lanterns for the Dead
Today we had voiceover recording sessions at my studio in Los Angeles for the Robert Rollins film Lanterns for the Dead. The actors were doing a table read of portions of the script, and the recording will be used to make a pre-visualization of the film for investors using the storyboard art and my music. I am slated to be the composer for the film whenever it is ultimately made.
Seattle International Film Festival
The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) is one of the most well-attended film festivals in the US, and it has more movies than any other festival in the US. I just finished a week up in Seattle soaking it all in, and it has been an inspiring time.
Penance screening
Director Jake Kennedy had a screening of his horror film Penance today in a theatre at the LA Film School . I composed additional music for a murder and abduction scene. Believe it or not, it was possibly the least horrible scene in the film. Jake doesn’t mess around. The majority of the film score was composed by Ryan Dodson.
Score for Long After Midnight finished
Director Robert Rollins and I completed the final dub of his film “Long After Midnight” today. I recorded my film score here in Los Angeles, mixed the music at Igloo Music, and I did the final surround mix of the film at my studio.
Penance music finished
I completed and delivered additional music for Jake Kennedy’s film Penance today, just in time to leave for tour!
Knightfall wins a Telly award
I was the film composer for Robert Rollins’ new film “Knightfall”, and today it won a Telly Award in the non-broadcast category. We are honored to be among the winners. The film will ultimately be part of a larger package of films called Dream Country.
