Brother John-Bede Pauley is a professor of music theory and voice at Saint John’s University in Minnesota. He recently completed a book and I prepared the music engravings of his musical excerpts. It is an ambitious project with quite a lot of notation throughout, and the end result looks fantastic.
Andrea Bocelli: Love In Portofino
Andrea Bocelli makes his cinema debut today with a Valentine’s Day release of a live concert in Portofino, Italy. I helped with the sheet music preparation for some live performances he did in conjunction with the release, including one song in which he performs a duet with the legendary Edith Piaf on film. I worked with music copyist Brian Benison.
Winifred Phillips book
Today I delivered music engravings for a new book by composer Winifred Phillips. The engravings were excerpts of music to be interspersed in the text of her book, which will be published in early 2014. A Composer’s Guide to Game Music is a comprehensive, practical guide that leads an aspiring video game composer from acquiring the necessary creative skills to understanding the function of music in games to finding work in the field. There is nothing else like it on the market, so I suspect it will be a big hit.
ZMX Signs Forever The Sickest Kids
Today we signed the pop punk band Forever The Sickest Kids to my sheet music publishing company ZMX Music. They’re on a KROQ compilation right now, they’re touring heavily, and you can catch them on the Vans Warped Tour this summer. We will begin creating sheet music for their songs this coming week, so keep an eye on their website.
Tegan and Sara album release
Today Tegan and Sara released their newest and much awaited album Heartthrob through Warner Brothers. ZMX simultaneously published and released sheet music to go along with it, so if you’re a fan of Tegan and Sara check out their website. The girls will be touring the album for much of 2013.
ZMX Signs State Radio
ZMX Music has just signed State Radio as our newest artist. Led by Chad Stokes of Dispatch, the rock band has an active non-profit that focuses on service oriented projects all over the world. They are on tour in Europe at the moment and we will publish their first batch of sheet music shortly after their return.
Vicente Fernandez film release
My latest movie opens this Friday in West Hollywood in a soft release that will begin at the Laemmle Theatres in LA and roll out to broader distribution after a few weeks.
The film is a family comedy called The Man Who Shook The Hand Of Vicente Fernandez, and it stars the late Ernest Borgnine. He was 94 during production and this film was his last in a celebrated career that spanned more than 6 decades. The film music was written by composer Ruy Folguera and orchestrated by myself. The movie was directed by Elia Petridis, and you can watch the trailer on the Indican Pictures website.
Brandi Roe “Tailspin”
Brandi Roe released her new album “Tailspin” today. The album is a folk/rock hybrid produced by Drew Allsbrook at The People’s Music studio. I arranged and played the Hammond organ for Brandi, and we recorded that here in my studio. It’s a great album with some very clever lyric writing, so check it out!
Cleveland Symphony Orchestra
On October 5 world percussion ensemble D’Drum and the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra will be performing Gamelan D’Drum, a piece I worked on with Stewart Copeland. It was performed previously by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, where it was condcuted by Jaap van Zweden, and the Royal College of Music.
