Love N’ Dancing now in theaters
Director Robert Iscove’s film Love N’ Dancing, starring the beautiful Amy Smart, is now in theaters. I orchestrated the score for the film for composer David Iscove, and we recorded the music here in Los Angeles. There are some really fantastic dance scenes in this film, and it was really fun to work on.
Recording for L’Imbroglio nel Lenzuolo
I was the orchestrator and music copyist for Ruy Folguera on a film called L’imbroglio nel Lenzuolo which stars Maria Grazia Cucinotta. Over the last two days we recorded the orchestra with Gustavo Borner at Igloo Music here in Los Angeles, and it sounds fantastic. It takes place at the turn of the century in Italy when film was newly invented and not yet widely known. Maria Grazia unknowingly becomes the star of a nude film, and the naked beauty quickly becomes the most famous person in town.
Miguel Atwood-Ferguson’s Suite for Ma Dukes – Hip Hop Orchestra
Miguel Atwood-Ferguson’s orchestral hip hop concert was tonight. It was a tribute to J Dilla, blending hip hop with a very young and cool 60-piece orchestra, and all the arrangements were written by Miguel. I was his music copyist for the 2 hour show and it was a big success. It’s a rare treat to hear an orchestra with groove truly vibe. Only in LA!
Recording Manu Pereyra album in Prague
For the last week I have been the orchestrator and music copyist for Ruy Folguera. We are orchestrating an album by Argentinean artist Manu Pereyra, and we will be recording with the City of Prague Philharmonic at the famous Smecky Studios on the 11th.
Orchestrating for Diego Schoening
Diego Schoening is a Mexican musician and actor best known for his role in the group Timbiriche, with whom he recorded 19 albums and sold 20 million copies. I spent the last couple of days working as an orchestrator and music copyist for Diego’s newest solo album and his arranger Ruy Folguera. We are adding string orchestra to his songs throughout the new album, which is titled “Lo Que Soy.” It will be released on Fonarte Latino early in 2009.
Musical theatre score
Steve Altman is a composer and performer here in Los Angeles who wrote a musical called The Time Machine based on the book by H. G. Wells. He made audio demos of the songs, and I was responsible for transcribing the audio and creating sheet music for all of the instruments in the band. We completed the score today, and we expect that it will play in the Hollywood Fringe festival next year.
Second Ridley Scott film – Body Of Lies
For the last couple of weeks I have been working on the Ridley Scott film Body of Lies, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. The film score was composed by Marc Streitenfeld. I was his studio tech and did some music preparation for the movie also. We’ll record with a massive orchestra at Warner Brothers here in LA and it will be in theatres soon.

Max Schubel is a concert composer and recording artist from Maine who has a label called Opus One. I was his music copyist for a work called “Chimera” which will be recorded soon by the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Max records much of the music published by Opus One with the orchestra in Poland, and has said it always feels like going home when he visits.
